Our Services

Platinum Fire Protection Ltd provides a comprehensive range of passive fire protection services to residential, commercial and public sector clients across the South of England.

Installation

FD30 & FD60 Fire Door Installation and Replacement

Fire doors are a critical component of a building's passive fire protection strategy. An FD30 fire door is rated to resist the passage of fire and smoke for a minimum of 30 minutes, while an FD60 door provides 60 minutes of protection. The appropriate rating is determined by the building's fire strategy, its use, and the specific location of the door within the structure.

FD30 doors are commonly specified in residential buildings, including flats and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), as well as in commercial premises where a 30-minute compartmentation period is required. FD60 doors are typically required in higher-risk locations, such as stairwells, plant rooms, and areas where extended evacuation time is necessary.

Our installation process begins with a thorough assessment of the opening, including frame condition, structural integrity and existing hardware. We supply and install certified fire door sets — door leaf, frame, intumescent seals, smoke seals, hinges, closers and signage — ensuring every element meets the required standard. All works are carried out by trained operatives and documented upon completion.

Inspections

Fire Door Inspections and Surveys

Regular fire door inspections are a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Building owners and responsible persons have a duty to ensure that fire doors are maintained in effective working order and inspected at appropriate intervals.

Our fire door inspection service covers all elements of a fire door assembly, including the door leaf, frame, intumescent and smoke seals, hinges, self-closing devices, glazing, signage and ironmongery. We assess each door against current standards and identify any defects, damage or non-compliant components that could compromise its performance in a fire.

Following each inspection, we provide a detailed written report documenting the condition of every door surveyed, with clear recommendations for any remedial works required. Our reports are structured to support the responsible person's fire safety management obligations and provide a clear audit trail.

Remedial Works

Fire Door Remedial Works and Upgrades

Many existing fire doors in residential and commercial buildings fail to meet current standards due to age, damage, poor installation or subsequent modifications. Remedial works offer a cost-effective route to compliance without the need for full door replacement in every case.

Our remedial works service addresses a wide range of deficiencies, including the fitting or replacement of intumescent seals and smoke seals, adjustment or replacement of self-closing devices, replacement of non-compliant hinges, installation or replacement of fire-rated glazing, and the addition of compliant signage. Where a door leaf or frame is beyond remediation, we will advise on replacement as part of a wider programme.

All remedial works are carried out in accordance with the door manufacturer's guidance and current standards. Where modifications are made to a certified door, we ensure that those modifications remain within the parameters of the door's certification. Works are documented and clients receive a completion record for their fire safety management files.

Bespoke

Bespoke Fire Door Design and Installation

Where standard fire door sets do not meet the aesthetic or dimensional requirements of a project, Platinum Fire Protection Ltd offers a bespoke fire door design and installation service. We work with clients, architects and interior designers to specify fire doors that meet both the functional requirements of the fire strategy and the design intent of the project.

Our bespoke service covers a wide range of configurations, including non-standard sizes, double-leaf sets, specialist glazing options, decorative finishes and compatible ironmongery. All bespoke doors are supplied and installed within the parameters of their certification, ensuring that design choices do not compromise fire performance.

Fire Stopping

Passive Fire Protection and Fire Stopping

Passive fire protection encompasses the measures built into a structure to contain fire and smoke within defined compartments, limiting its spread and protecting escape routes. Effective compartmentation is fundamental to any building's fire safety strategy and is a requirement under current building regulations.

Fire stopping is the process of sealing penetrations through fire-resistant walls, floors and ceilings — including those created by services such as pipes, cables, ducts and conduits. When these penetrations are left unsealed, they create pathways through which fire and smoke can travel rapidly between compartments, undermining the building's fire resistance.

Our passive fire protection service covers the installation of fire stopping materials including intumescent collars, fire-rated sealants, mineral wool, fire batts and cavity barriers. We assess each penetration individually and specify the appropriate solution based on the substrate, service type and required fire resistance period. All works are documented with photographic evidence and completion records.
